Launching issue [SOLVED]
Hey guys, I've solved the issue when Steam couldn't launch the game (WIN 7). I've tried to reinstal the game or repair files through Steam... nothing worked. Steam just gave me no error at all. So I've tried to launch the game by using .exe file in "Steam/Outlast 2" folder and it gave me an error "missing file msvcp110.dll", so I've downloaded the right supporting pack from Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679 and the game is finally working for me. You're welcome, let's play!

Oh that's interesting. Feels like the game should install this automatically when you get it from Steam. I will talk to the other programmer and see if we need to fix anything. Thanks.

Yeah, it usually does. But Steam was just like "launching... synchronizing... and nothing" again and again. No supporting packs were automatically installed. I've read that the others have the same issue too, so I hope this will help. I am really looking forward to play your game. Keep up the great work guys!
just installed the game and i can't launch it too cause of no .exe

That should be an antivirus issue, read the other thread.

EDIT: The packs that need to be manually installed can be found right in the game folder. There is no need to download them separately again.

What are the install files named and what exact folder?

Steam/steamapps/common/Outlast 2/_CommonRedist/vcredist

Instal both of them (2010 and 2012), but you need to choose the right file: 32-bit or 64-bit. It depends on your system.

My system says I already have them. Options are repair or uninstall. I don't see repairing them doing anything as they work fine with everything else.

What exact issue do you have? I've needed to launch the game by using .exe to find out which files are missing. You can try it, it's located in Binaries folder.

I tried repairing both 2010 and 2012 and it still does the same thing. It stays minimized after the initial splash screen/icon preview is a blank screen

I tried launching exe from binaries folder. It doesn't prompt me about any missing files. The initial outlast splash screen displays. The whole screen turns white, then minimizes refusing the maximize or show.

It looks like a different issue. I don't know...

If I use the task manager to maximize, it flashes black and minimizes. If I use task manager to "switch to", it flashes black and minimizes, and also minimizes task manager.

When I first installed it, I could play it, no issues. Yesterday I played, today I played, but now later today, I doesn't launch anymore. Only the "loading" screen pops up and stays like this. No error. No crash... just stays like this... tried reinstalling, tried verifying, nothing... Tried the OP his solution, didnt work... :steamsad:
