How do you unlock classes?

Alright, I have a feeling this question has been asked (and answered) a million times already, but the problem is that everything I'm finding seems to be old information. One thing said just reach the temple for that class and it unlocks. Other posts are talking about three million credits.

For me, simply getting to the temple doesn't unlock it. It's showing a cost of 25,000 Sparks of Transformation, which I have no idea how to get consistently.

Is this the only way to unlock classes? Berserker unlocked automatically, if I remember correctly, but so far I am past Archer and Slayer and they aren't unlocked.

Is this really the only way to play other classes? Grind for in-game currency to buy them?

You get Sparks for doing missions for the first time? That's the usual way. Some guides will say something to the effect "complete the provinces" which should do the job. https://skyforge.gamepedia.com/Campaign

The earlier classes in the early provinces cost little or nothing. Save up your KOE / Knowledge of Enlightenment too, you'll need 90k of those to unlock Outlaw. https://skyforge.gamepedia.com/Classes

But I've already done four or five provinces and I only have about half the sparks for ONE class. How do you get 25,000 over and over? All classes seem to cost that much.

Have you unlocked directives? Those are repeatable too. In addition some of the things you can do like Invasions/etc give you special chests as rewards. You can get some from the chest but it's random.

I'd go back and check on those class temples. Some of them are free or cheap [Satria's should be free?]

As far as I know, I haven't unlocked directives yet. Not sure what that is.

And yes, the first temple (Berserker) was free, but I checked all the others and none of them seem to be.

what? when i did it they all simply unlocked for free once i got to them. did my.com pull a my.com?

we got lucky and started at the "right time" XD
people before and after us had to grind sparks.. now we'll get to grind it for the new class.

Well this sucks. 25,000 sparks per class! I've never played an MMORPG where the classes themselves were locked behind what is essentially a paywall! This sucks the interest out of the game for me, since trying and switching between multiple classes was what appealed to me in the first place.

not sure what mmo you've been playing but... let's take a couple of examples.
lotro - certain classes and maybe races (can't remember the last bit) locked behind expansions/packs (you can grind achievements and what not to get currency to buy expansions/etc)
ff14 - the expansions come with new jobs.. so that's a real paywall, not to mention monthly sub.

just bear in mind one thing. skyforge is all about grind. you'll grind those sparks automatically when you are grinding for gear. and then there's grind for a9 to open the last skill.

First of all, you mentioned only two MMOs out of so many others that have all the classes available from the start.

Second, in both cases you are referring to classes that were added later with expansions. In Skyforge, ALL classes except the base three (and apparently Berserker) are locked behind a paywall, forcing you to grind with a class that you may not even enjoy playing.

This is a terrible way to unlock classes. Having them unlock as you progress through the campaign wouldn't have been so bad, but 25,000 sparks just to unlock it, not even knowing if you'll like it, is terrible design.

Maybe you don't mind, but I'm done with the game because of this. I'm not happy about that either. I was really looking forward to trying out all these classes.

i'm just saying different company have different ways of locking stuff out. i don't see me getting 35k or 25k or whatever sparks any time soon as i get 500 a day from directives and the rest are pot luck (have to play with people who haven't unlocked maps apparently)

i cannot remember if you get to try the other classes out in the tutorial sim or if it's only classes you've unlocked. i think steam has a free pack that gives a class free. it used to be free outlaw, no idea about now.

Im not spending money on a f2p not p2w game haha. Its just not worth it either just for a class. £11 just for a class. Nah

yeah i would never buy the pack and im in the same boat just felt like some sarcasm
