Cant place a door?

Everything says you need a block above, below or behind to place but even with and without this i CANNOT place a door?! Please help! D:

My daughter pointed this out to me. Not sure if you are having the same problem. She said, "he's a little guy. He only needs a little door." I was using two blocks.
Your door area should be 3 blocks tall. Place the back level of the wall first. Next, place another level (the outer one) on the top and below. Leave that one spot with only a back wall and place the door there. Hope that helps!
