Not funny, cringe writing and annoying characters, inconsistent visuals, tedious bullet sponge boss fights, boring open areas and story sections, awful pacing, piss poor performance, multiple crashes......AVOID THIS MESS.

I genuinely believed that firing Just Roiland would not impact the humor that much, but sadly I was wrong. I laughed at certain moments, don't get me wrong, but the laugh-per-hour ratio versus the first game is far weaker, and for a comedy game, that's pretty much a death sentence. It's not a bad game mechanically speaking, but it has a lot of issues that ruin the experience.

👍 The good parts:
+Great atmosphere
+Cool boss fights

👎The bad parts:
-Most of the humor is super dry, especially in later half
-Abysmal technical issues

Basically, the roles reverse, and you, the same main character from the first game, are no longer a bounty hunter, but you are hunted instead for spoiler reasons.

A lot of recurring characters, except you know who, make a comeback as weapons, plus some additional ones that are not as comedically inclined as they think they are, ranging from a divorced, depressed old dude to a super cringe bow.

The main story overall isn't anything super deep, nor will it make you ♥♥♥♥ your pants comically, instead, it felt super dry most of the time, and that is a major issue with the game, since it's supposed to make you laugh. Sadly, they take absolutely 0 risks when it comes to comedy compared to the first game. There are a few moments of brilliance, such as the mystery solving on the ship, but that's about it.

Story rating: 6.5/10

The game introduces a new mechanic, the skateboard, which honestly feels like a gimmick they randomly thought of rather than something super fun. The entire level design was created to adapt for the skateboard, however, you could've easily just had wall running and a jetpack instead.

Most of the other mechanics are the same, you have some cool new weapons which overall were improved mechanically so that instead of just using one weapon the entire game like the first, you do need to switch them up, assuming you're not playing on easier difficulties like a bitc.h.

Boss fights are certainly better than the first game, they have mechanics that you need to adapt to, some of them are quite cool, such as the politician, which I won't spoil, while others are completely bad, such as the wizard. Exploration is back as well, with large open-ended maps where you can find a lot of treasures, though most of them are useless, such as skateboard skins, which you 95% of the time will never see.

Gameplay rating: 7/10

They hired some talented voice actors, which is fine, they did a good job, however I have to repeat myself, this is a comedy game, and sadly, none of the voice actors have comedic charisma, and the old ones that came back can barely sustain the comedy aspects. The soundtrack is kinda boring most of the time, and the sound effects are ok, nothing worth mentioning.

Audio rating: 7/10

Pretty safe to say they abandoned the game, as the latest fix for it was a beta-branch that you can access to gain some stutter fixes. Stuttering, however, is the least of its issues. It has a ton of crashes, mouse input issues, bugged quests, etc., that apparently will never get fixed, so take that into account if you decide to buy the game.

Visually, the game looks good, better than the first, the levels are gorgeous, and the art-style is nice. The same can be said about its level design, which is well crafted even though, as I mentioned, there's not really much worth exploring.

Graphics, performance, and tech analysis score: 7/10

I think they lowered the base price, it was much higher than 50 euros, but even at this price, I cannot recommend it because there's not much to recommend. Get it on a huge sale.

Squanch Games should be ashamed of the state of this game after 8 months from release. I loved the first game, this has the same fun factor, IF IT ACTUALLY WORKED. I'll leave it another 3 months and see what updates/patches materialise. If it's still an unplayable game then - it'll be bye bye Squanch games from me.
