Is this like that old pirates of the caribbean game?
There was a game I played about 15 years ago that I absolutely adored. I cant remember the exact name but it was pirates of the caribbean based. You ran around towns in first person, commanded ships, upgraded ships etc - the ship combat, repair mechanics etc I loved, not to mention the water system and storms - is this game like that one? (If anyone knows which game im talking about).

I think know the game of which you speak. It was called Pirates of the Caribbean, but there was no Jack Sparrow. It started with another title, then was switched to PotC in time for the movie launch. (Might have been something like Sea Dogs, I can't remember.

As to whether this game is like that game -- Kinda, sorta, but kinda sorta not. Same general feel, but I liked that old PotC game better. Ships were better, sea battles were better, plot was better (there was one).

There was a huge modder community. and it may be alive in some corner of the internet.

If I could find it, I'd sure play it again.

Edited -- I think I found it. The protagonist was called Nathaniel Hawk. He became a pirate after the French attacked Oxbay. https://pirates.fandom.com/wiki/Nathaniel_Hawk

And here's a link about the game itself -- https://pirates.fandom.com/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean_(2003_video_game)

It was originally supposed tbe Sea Dogs II.

And they did get Keira Knightley to narrate some of it.

Still the best pirate game ever.

If you find a place to buy it, could you post it back here?

Thanks.

If you are looking for this game, there are 2 options. You can check out the later installments in the series, they have gone very far from the original PoTC. They can be found here on steam, look for Sea Dogs titles, the best one is City of the Abandoned Ships.

However, if you want that original PoTC vibe, look for “Sea legend is back” mod by AlexusB. I believe there is an english version of it. And since it comes as stand-alone, you don’t the game itself.

Faaaaaaaaaak I remember pirating (heh, fitting) this game back when I was a kid, playing it, loving it, losing it somehow, trying to buy it few years later when I had money to actually spend and never being able to find it or any mentions of it anywhere. I literally thought I had dreamt it all.
