Zombies << Spoilers >>
I've been♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥about those damn zombies for about a year, so I decided it was time to do something about them. They irritate the crap out of me because they have no place in a pirate game (PotC not withstanding), and they are screwing up the economy.

So it's time to ferret them out and send them to their maker.

<<Spoilers follow>>

It turns out that getting rid of the zombies isn't really all that hard,
Kill them all. You have to find five ships, board them, and kill the zombies.

Finding them isn't very hard. If you go see a banker, he will give you hints about where they might be, something like "I've lost some ships going from Havana to Bonaire," or something similar. He may tell you to go see a banker in another port. If he does, head there, and you will probably find the zombie ship on your way.

The ships are labelled "Strange Ship," and they are easy to see if you follow the banker's advice.

Also, the banker will tell you there is a 50,000 gold reward for getting rid of the strange ships.

Boarding them is a piece of cake. Just sail up to them and click on them. This starts the boarding battle. You do not even have to do a sea battle.

Once on board, there will be 40 zombies. Kill them all. I used a war brig to board, and the zombies always had a big ship, but I still won. I usually had 60 to 80 members in my party.

The Strange Ships will be scattered all over the Caribbean, so pack some food because you'll be doing some sailing.

Once you have killed 5 boatloads of zombies, go to any banker to collect your reward.

And the zombie quest is done, although it will still show in your quest log.

If you check your trade prices, you'll see that the economy is back to normal, which to me means I can resume my trade run hauling tobacco from the ports on Hispaniola to traders in Montego Bay.

Easy, peasy. Enjoy.

Why the heck did they force that stupid DLC into the base game, it's something I'll never understand or agree with.

That said, yeah, you can kill them at sea, and also, apparently, encounter them ashore too.
(Possible bug, but I don't really care, I hate this stupid DLC) Sometimes, the Native Parties were Undead instead, and THAT wasn't very fun to discover, but winning the battle still referenced "Burning and Sinking the ship" Which is an unexpected thing to see when you're tracking down Spanish War Parties in the middle of the South American Rain forests...
