Higher Resolution Assets
I know this is a port of the Vita version but what are the chances of higher resolution (1080p perhaps?) assets in the future? I'm sure Spike Chunsoft has most of the game's assets in their original quality hiding in their offices somewhere, so it should be a matter of getting in touch with the Japanese branch, right?

Dont worry guys! This port made Abstraction games too ,so it would be 1080p:steamhappy:

Both the first game and this game have Vita resolution textures, that can be upscaled to 1080p.
What we want, however, is textures that are 1080p or higher

This is just a port, like the first game. I seriously doubt they want to make that much of an investment as it would require redrawing basically ALL of the assets? That's not really a sane request. The first game looked fine, besides, VN/Adventure Games aren't known for their bleeding edge graphics.

They don't have to redraw everything as there's proof they already have higher res assets for even DR1

That's hardly a proof. This background is for the New Danganronpa 3 game which means that they've probably made a new drawing of the school for this game in order to match the PS4's quality. We still don't know if they have high-res assets or not.

If anything the anime version coming this summer is gonna be in 1080p I'm sure!

That's just impossible. As you can see in the image, the Vita upscale and the background match 1:1, so the chances of it being a redraw are close to zero. Not to mention the sprites on the artbook are bigger than even the Vita sprites too.

Also, I'm not sure if you're aware, but artists don't usually draw in the final device's resolution. In fact, their drawings are much bigger so they can easily draw in all the finer details.

Another thing to consider: would you be saying the same thing right now if the Vita version didn't exist and the PSP version was being ported instead?

you think they draw portraits and CGs specifically for their target device?
