Gamepad Not Working

So I finally got around to setting up an Xbox 360 controller on my laptop so I could use it in this game, but when I open it, the little bubble that says "Gamepad" is still greyed out. Can someone help me? Do I need to use a different type of gamepad? I am also on mac (dont kill me) so I don't know if that has something to do with it.

I'm a Windows user and I use the Steam controller, so this may not be useful, but what sometimes happens to me is I'll have to open the game a few times using the controller before it lets me select the 'Gamepad' option. It doesn't always work right away, I usually have to open it 2-4 times before it works.
Again, though, because we use different controllers this might not be the case at all for you

Sadly no :(

I play SDR2 with an Xbox 360 controller. In order to to that, I use a Xbox controller adapter for pc. It is really simple to find on amazon.

It was happening to me. I just set activate steam input in control options.
