Should I play this after s1 anime?
So I just watched Dangaronpa season 1 anime and wanted to watch more - then found out that it's based on games, one thing leading to another and I know that s2 & 3 of anime is following 3rd game in franchise but most if not everybody recommend to play or watch gameplay of this one to get the full experience in anime s2 and onwards.

With that said I loved s1 anime, I got some info with no spoilers about this game and it's predecesor so I know what I might be getting into. BUT I'm laic. That would be my first game in franchise AND in Visual Novel style games. Heck even first "anime game".

With this info - would you recommend to play it? I'm hyped for more Dangaronpa but I don't want to ruin my experience with franchise because I forced myself to play a game..

PS.: I know it's hard to tell if person will like it or not. I'm asking for subjective opinions based on description above so just leave your opinion!:)

Personally I think that you should start with the first game, since it´s a pretty different feel from the anime, because of how the class trials work and the way it´s told too.
But it shouldn´t be a problem to start with the second game either, since you´ve watched the anime adaptation.

What Draiden said.

I would start with the first game too.
Watched the Anime first as well, but while watching I always had the feeling the story just did not work properly as an anime and would fit a game much better (I did not know a game existed I stumbled on the show by accident xD)

If you just care for knowing the story tho...
There should be no harm skipping game 1, you saw all the important stuff, just missed extra info and tidbits on the chars and some sidecontent I think.
Thanks guys!

You could, but it will be hard to understand how to play the Trials since the Danganronpa Team expects you to already have played Trigger Happy Havoc. I think? I havent played DR2 since December 2017.

But yeah, play THH, learn the mechanics.

Try to play the first , littles things change with the Anime :Ibuki_DGR:
There's also character development you get in the game that they couldn't put into a 13 episode anime.

In the second game itself, it says "if you played the first game", so its okay to choose any game. They don't really keep tabs on each other, besides small easter eggs, and bits of semi-significant information. It's totally okay to skip the first game. The animation skips plenty of things you can only do in the game, so the game is worth playing. I watched the animation before i played the game, and I didn't regret playing the game. You're totally okay. You won't be confused.

I know it's already been answered but I played the second game after watching the first season and greatly regretted missing out on the experience (I bought the first game afterwards) so XD
