Why is chiaki loved

Chiaki is such a boring character and it seems that she was forced to try and be relatable with the player she is always sleepy, almost no personality and all she does is sit there and i barely ever notice her because she is so boring. also i dont want any hate i just genuinely dont know why people like her

yeah i thought so but after chapter 2 i can see why is chiaki loved.
She often helps Hajime Hinata during the Class Trials and provides important points.
She truly does care about and wants to protect everyone. She dislikes killing more than anything and she gets very serious about the topic.
Smart, cute and kind that's why people like her.

honestly until late chapter 5 she was maybe mid for me (gundham being my favourite) but by the end of chapter 6 she was my 3rd favourite. GUNDHAM FOR LIFE!!!!

Off the top of my head, I think Chiaki and Nagito are the only characters that actively pursue friendship with the player character. Kazuichi too, maybe, but I think he's more about having someone to hang out with.

I imagine that makes it a lot easier to like those characters.

Well, first we need to look at the Japanese fans that this game was created for, since her popularity there helped propel her popularity here.

So she's not decorous with the snot bubble sleeping thing. That's like her one flaw. And it's a flaw that is considered kind of "cute" if I understand Japan. Sort of like clumsy girl is an acceptable non-flaw for an American Mary Sue.

She's also the traitor, but not really. So it almost makes her not faithful and honest, but then does a 180 on you.

So she's popular in Japan because she's near perfect.

Then she comes over here and people still react to all of her positive traits. Who doesn't like someone who helps them and backs them all the time?

And she's a gamer girl, which tends to make gamers of both sexes like her because they're all gamers together.

She's not always people's favorite character, but there's not that many people who hate her. At worst, because she's so passive in her role as your ideal helper, people find her bland.

me either. i never liked chiaki.

i was hoping for her death since chapter 2
and cheered when it happened
it was sad that my fav character. nagito died. but whatever at least he took down my least fav with him.

but idk what she is like in the anime because i don't plan on watching it since i have not been a fan of danganronpa's story the gameplay was what was what keeping me going.
so ill prolly won't watch it for a long time.
