Worth the reading if...?
Just finished Trigger-Happy Havoc. Was a really good run right up until the big ending twist, which was just really bad. Won't spoil it, just to be safe, but...♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that was stupid.

With that in mind, would this game be worth playing for me?

It wasn't bad, though, especially when later games go more in depth on it. Play it.

Unfortunately the entire sequel is based off the ending of the original. Good news is the story decides to fall apart right off the bat instead of waiting until the end of the game, so there's no promise of it getting better, and then somehow manages to collapse what little integrity it has at the ending. Part of the issue with this series is that it puts twists in exclusively for having twists. The creators prioritized them over actual competent story telling.

That being said I found parts of it enjoyable, the murders are more often than not complicated to a comical degree and for the most part the caricatures they attempt to pass as humans are certainly worth a laugh. Comedy fueled me through this game for the most part. The darker atmosphere is entirely gone, it's light hearted all the way through despite that conflicting with the attempted tone of the game.

I still think it's worth playing. Pick it up during a sale and it's not too bad. While the murders are over the top, they're still kind of fun to solve thanks to the improved gameplay. The story is completely forgettable sadly, it tries a bit too hard and ends up pretty cringe worthy at the end.

Don't see at all what you're talking about when you say iot "falls apart immediately".
