This would've been awesome to explore in DR3. Note that DR3 did not try to take advantage of this because DR3 is a terrible anime.
All the coincidences (his style, his ultimate talent, all the speeches about hope), and some sugestive moments, for me, were the game playing with us. When some of the characters are infected by the despair disease, Nagito starts saying something about how he is wearing a fake name, what can raise some doubt on the player. But the gag is that Nagito's despair disease sympthom is the "lie disease", so the game developers are playing with our expectation about him reavealing himself as Makoto.
