That was the point. Tsumugi had no idea who the killer was because of Kokichi's meddling, and more than likely, she had expected either Kokichi or Maki to be the true killers. As such, she had to resort to recycling props from a previous season to off Kaito.

Beyond that, I'm really struggling how you can think any of the executions were derivative. Minus maybe Tsumugi.

That ignores that, in v3, DR1 and 2 were VIDEO GAMES, not live action shows like v3 itself.

Who says they can't remake the games for primetime television?

There's also the matter of some of the executions being either slightly derivative of DR1 and DR2, especially Kaito's execution being almost exactly the same as Jin Kirigiri's execution at the beginning of DR1, straight down to Monokuma laughing in the dust after the rocket crashes back to Earth.

In hindsight, continuing to watch a LP of someone you found annoying isn't the smartest idea. Also, I didn't really ask about the ending, I was asking about the characters. I'm pretty sure not all of the Youtube let's players that played V3 thought the characters were dull.

I liked just about every character in DR1 and DR2, and hated almost every character in V3, so as far as I'm concerned, V3 is a massive failure.

They are all really annoying, and unlike DR1 and DR2's cast, they dont have their own story arcs or motivations revealed to improve their characters any and give them any individuality. So instead, I'm stuck listening to 16 morons arguing and wasting my time in the class trials, and making the already long and tedious class trials of V3 even longer with their uninteresting and incessant banter. The only character I liked in V3 was Kokichi. Everyone else just sucks tbh

How the hell is THAT not wasting time?

I'm glad that you can appreciate the characters that I clearly cannot, but the characters in V3 are just not very good imo, and no amount of your incessant crying and complaining is going to change that. The characters in DR1 and DR2 had much more human motivations and desires, that much should be obvious. V3 is a good game to be sure, but the characters are just really bad imo. For the record, I'll never defend Hagakure wasting time in the trials either, but LITERALLY every character in V3 just wasted my fu cking time in the trials, and not just 1 or 2 characters as was the case with DR1 and DR2. Also, I dont know why you even bothered asking me why I disliked the characters in V3 if you're just going to argue with my opinion anyways.

I think that's only because Danganronpa V3 is the most popular DR game, at least at it's launch, especially in the west. It's the current game, so it makes sense financially to make merchandise for it more than the other DR games and DR3.

If he hates the cast, he hates the cast, bringing in the bandwagon effect won't change that opinion. I disagree with him too, but I understand where he's coming from and can at least respect his opinion. The V3 trials do have characters talking about pointless things or taking too long on certain elements (chapter 4 spoiler for V3 ahead) it takes a long time in chapter 4 just to explain how the virtual world loops. Also every character suffers from repeating catchphrases too much, especially Tenko, Angie, Himiko, Maki, Kaito, Ryoma, Gonta, Miu, Tsumugi, and Keebo.

I don't mind the time wasted in trials, nor the catchphrases and how annoying some characters can be, heck I only hate two characters, however they are legitimate criticisms.

I will agree that the virtual world talks take forever, but the same was done for the secret of the funhouse in DR2. And every debate progresses learning about the virtual world in some way, even if the player has figured it out already, or at least so I recall.

In the funhouse case, it made sense since Hajime had to slowly figure it out from Nagito's hints, the funhouse was a major part of the mystery. Finding out the virtual world loops could've just been with a single hangman's gambit/pysche taxi minigame, it felt it took much longer than it needed to personally. Although I'll admit you're right about the debate par.
