It is absolutely worth it

Gameplay is a visual novel 80% of the time but it has a great story that has earned a strong fanbase. I personally would recommend it if you are looking for something story rich rather than mechanically fun.

i dont know about cave story but the other two are good just go with what you're interests are as they are both quality

Maybe Cave Story. I personally havent played cave story but i know a lot of people loved it. The story is apparently great and itll probably be one of the longer lasting titles.

If you dont get Danganronpa though, I'd suggest watching the anime. It will give you roughly the same experience and will maybe interest you into buy the other titles if/when they get released on steam :)

i have watched the anime
but played one of the games on my vita first

If you've already played the first one on the Vita then there is no reason to get it on PC unless you want to support the developers. If you played the 2nd one though, i personally dont think playing the first one will really do much for you. Anime fills in all the plot you need :P

the anime actually skips a lot of details (and changes some really small unimportant things), so you're actually missing some of the more interesting parts of Danganronpa (the investigations) if you only watch the anime

huh
never thought of that

Zombie is definitely right. The game does a much better job of narrating the story. I watched the anime first, then bought the game and felt it was worth the money. It's mostly up to how into the universe you are.

Although I'm all for skullgirls. This is your best choice from those 3 games. Believe me, just buy it.
Skullgirls is really good, but you won't have fun online if you aren't willing to learn. Also, it goes on sale a ton so I'd wait. Cave Story + is also really good but once again I'd wait for a sale. If you really can't wait, play the original freeware. This game is really good if you like games like Phoenix Wright Ace Attourney. There aren't a ton of dialogue choices so make sure that's what you'd want in a VN. Obviously, the best parts are the trials.
