Does this game have sub-subtitles?
I'm looking for visual novels suitable for learning japanese. So does this game offer the option to show JP and EN subtitles at the same time or switching between both languages via hot keys like in Nekopara?

There are no Japanese subtitles in the game (unless of course you're playing the Japanese release).

What do you mean by Japanese release? The store page says it comes with English and Japanese interface, audio and subtitles. So I guess dual subtitles are out of the question. But is it at least possible to switch between languages after starting a new game?

Even though Steam is an online marketplace, the games are coded to be region-specific. This is because regional releases are not just a matter of distribution, but of marketing, localization, pricing, and licensing. So when you shop the Steam marketplace, you're viewing releases which are specific to your own region.

I don't know why the store page says the game has both English and Japanese interface, audio, and subtitles, though I would guess that it's covering all releases of the game rather than the one you're shopping for. All I can tell you is that there's no option for Japanese in the North American version's launch window, title screen menu, or in-game menu.

Oh ok, I'm located in Germany so maybe the European version has more language options. Sometimes it's also possible to change the language in the game library by right clicking on the game and selecting properties. But thanks for your helpful answers.

Ahhh, okay, I never would have thought to try that. I have just confirmed that you can indeed select English, Japanese, or Traditional Chinese for the game using the method you describe. Sorry for initially giving you the wrong answer.

Thanks for checking it.
