You don't like the baddies I take it
My least favorite would probably be Togami. He was extremely annoying for me, and he also did some pretty messed up things.(Completely screwing with Chihiro's corpse after he was killed, and taking away Kirigiri's room key.) Overall, I just hated him.
Top 3:
1- Kyouko Kirigiri
2- Makoto Naegi
3- Touko Fukawa
Well...
13- Sayaka Maizono
14- Mondo Oowada
15- Leon Kuwata
1. Mondo - I loved mondo's design and personality from the start, plus I personally thought his backstory was the saddest.
2. Byakuya - I don't care I love this smug ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Unarguably one of the strongest personalities in the game, I totally get hating him for it, but I only see him as a good character who I loved to have around so I could hate him.
3. Sakura - buff momma, who was surprisingly sweet and didn't do anything wrong
4. Chihiro - see taka, with the addition of an interesting backstory and unexpected development after his death
5. Leon - I love his design, so I actually spent my free time with him early on, and so he became my favourite character from the start, his execution hit me really hard :c
6. Yasuhiro - yeah I just can't bring myself to dislike this dude, sure he's totally unhelpful, but he's just too damn charismatic. dope hair too.
7. Kiyotaka - precious cinnamon roll, never did anything wrong ;_;
8. Genocide Jack - Junko on a smaller scale, she was in it more though, and her dialogue throughout is super entertaining
9. Aoi - Kinda unhelpful and background character in the start, but her interactions with Sakura and devlopment from case 4 made her a pretty cool character.
10. Junko - the best girls are the ones that have insane plans to bring down the entire world with despair yaaaaaas
11. Celeste - I liked her for a good bit, her design is cool and she was a genuine mystery, being a remorseless killer knocked her back a tad.
12. Makoto - Eeeeehhhh. Compared to Hajime, really quite uninteresting.
13. Hifumi - amusing at times. But I can't say I was ever worried about him.
14. Kyoko - she immediately occured to me as the alt protagonist character, I knew she wouldn't die so there was no suspense. I didn't dislike her, but she was just kind of boring. Perhaps if they did kill Kyoko off that would make me like her more because THAT woulda subverted everything I thought about her.
15. Toko - annoying as hell, sorry.
16. Sayaka - basically who? she felt like such a forced romance interest and I went out of my way to spend as little time with her as possible.
17. Mukuro - Didn't read the side story, sorry ;_;
Least: Hifumi by far was my least favorite. I thought he was obnoxious the whole time he was alive and thought he was the stupidest thing ever.
I definitely agree about Byakuya. He is very enjoyable. Regarding Hifumi though, I feel that Yasuhiro Hagakure has him beat by a wide margin in terms of being gullible.
It is certainly hard to tell what to expect when someone like Taka just changes out of nowhere like that. Overall, I suppose I just have a hard time taking Yasuhiro seriously. Mostly becuase of scenes like the one where he described his "UFO encounter" and the one where he thought that Kyoko was a ghost at the start of the chapter 5 class trial.
Since you asked for a Celestia read: http://kamukuranon.tumblr.com/post/56918156800/understanding-celestia-ludenberg-a-really-long
I'll list all characters, because I am thorough.
19. Hifumi Yamada. Just as he drove Celestia over the edge, he would have driven me over the edge. Still better than Teruteru, though.
17. Leon Kuwata. Has no story whatsoever due to an early demise, and what he showed went entirely unappreciated by me.
16. Kiyotaka Ishimaru. I apologize to his fans, but these type of characters generally rub me the wrong way. And if he's such a Moral Compass, he could have at least followed Celeste's night time rule.. And not gotten killed that way.
14. Mondo Owada. Because I dislike short fuses very much. Have some self control.
13. Makoto Naegi. Boring. Plain. Quite stupid. Could not relate whatsoever.
12. Yasuhiro Hagakure. Useless, stupid, irrelevant.. yeah.
11. Byakuya Togami. Wanted him to die throughout the entire game. Just get his crime over with, I thought. Then he, for some reason I really don't see fitting his character, didn't commit one at all. At least he wasn't stupid?
10. Touko Fukawa. At least she had some alright moments. Not many, though.
9. Sayaka Maizono. I feel like she could have been so interesting had she actually gone completely nuts. Sadly she died extremely early.
8. Chihiro Fujisaki. I definitely came to like him better as the game progressed. However, I had predicted his big plot twist from the very first time I saw him.
7. Sakura Ogami. A very respectable character. Caring, kind, protective, rather smart. She was very likable in general.
6. Aoi Asahina. Although not very smart, I found her enjoyable to talk to throughout the game. Besides that, she valued friendship very much. She was on the edge at one point, but pulled through.
5. Genocide Jill. I'm weak to insanity.
4. Mukuro Ikusaba, entirely based on other works (Danganronpa: Zero and Danganronpa IF).
3. Kyoko Kirigiri. Mysterious, smart, Celesgiri. I found her dull at times, but looking back I can respect her quite a lot.
2. Junko Enoshima. The life of Danganronpa, as far as I'm concerned. The most interesting character of them all, and the one that has given me the most entertainment time; over multiple works. Danganronpa: Zero brought her dangerously close to my number one; however, she was not dethroned.
1. Celestia Ludenberg. The character with the most hidden layers out of the franchise (or what I have experienced of it) so far. Acts as though she is entirely heartless, but sees her old self in Hifumi Yamada and wants to help him out. However, he is entirely in a fantasy world and pushes her over the edge. Besides that, her constant anxiety of the situation keeps building and building; she could be killed at any time. She is physically weak, and a talent for gambling would help nobody in the situation she is in. She claims to be a great manipulator, while also admitting that most of her talent is simply based on luck in games of chance. She is one of the easiest targets in the group; she simply refuses to show this weakness. She made the night time rule in order to prevent disaster, yet everyone keeps breaking it. The entire situation was driving her over the edge and then she decided to prove that she could beat them in a game of wits; a game of manipulation. Prove not only to the group, but to herself. She thinks of a complicated scheme for her case, however, Hifumi messes up on so many fronts; in the end, she should've made it less complicated. The extremely elaborate set up ended as her downfall. Right before she gets executed, after Aoi asks if her dream was really her entire reason, she says "Well, actually..", "No, nevermind." This shows that she had more reason to commit this crime than just her dream. However, in her neverending façade, she refuses to say even that in the end. She is not heartless. She is not a flat character. She is the character you have to read between the lines for.
Wow, that's... really insightful actually. I liked celeste the most before because I like gothic fashion and thought her personality was cute, but that makes her characters even more interesting to me.
1. Mukuro, as you can probably tell by my username and icon. Despite not having much of a presence in the game I instantly fell in love with her character; her obsession with her abusive, despair-induced sister, her inner conflict with hope and despair and the way she conducts herself as Ultimate Soldier.
2. Sakura! I really loved her character - she was so unique not only in looks and style but in strength too. Her protective ~loving~ friendship with Aoi is inspiring and it took a lot of strength for her to commit suicide and disobey Monokuma with the threat of destroying their family dojo
3. Junko!~ Most definitely one of my favourite villains. Complete and utter Ultimate Despair; a genius with a cruel and twisted personality. She is beautiful, manipulative and basically destroyed the entire world.
