Don't you think that Hina and Hiro are a bit...useless....? (might be spoilers)
I like Hina as character mostly because of her friendship with Sakura, who was one of my fav characters, but throughout the game she doesn't really do anything and keeps making dumb comments about donuts and whatsoever; I only really liked her in Chapter 4, when she actually is relevant to the plot.
Hiro, instead, is just stupid, he's supposed to be like that to improve the humour of the game (I guess), but c'mon in 5 Chapters he doesn't do anything, except for hindering the trials with his dumbness. I would have killed him in Ch1 lol

I think I'm missing something..
Around chapter 6 during the start of the investigation, Hina said that she was of no use but then Makoto responded that if it weren't for Hina, he would have died? When did Hina save Makoto??

Well, not directly, but he probably meant her testifying that Makoto didn't take the knife in chapter 1. I wouldn't go as far as saying that's what saved him, but maybe Makoto said that to cheer her up.

Ya that makes sense. I thought Makoto was being pointless just to try to cheer her up...
I forgot about that event... Anyway Thanks !!

I think it's funny that two of the survivors are people who actually benefit from the world falling into chaos. Spending time with Hiro lets you know about all the money he's borrowed from certain people and that Hope's Peak was his way of hiding out from them. With the way the world's become, I'm assuming his dept's been wiped clean.
The other character is Toko. Having her secret broadcasted all around would pretty much end whatever future she hoped to have, but she's found a new purpose for her "abiliies" in the later games.
Just to keep this relevant to the subject, I was fine with Hina. All the characters didn't need to have some kind of benefit to the story to justify their existance. She, like everyone else, was just a student thrown into a bad situation. She did have a key role, storywise, in Chapter 4, and let's not forget her most important feature... her tears can bring back the dead, but only for a bit. :f2_happy:
As for Hiro, the same goes for him, but he's still a big jerk and a dummy, yeah!

Actually after you beat Ultra Despair Girls You unlock a light novel about Hagakure, and you find he's stealing stuff to pay off his debt, so unlucky for him, they survived

When you bring that up, and if Toko is made to pay for her crimes after the world is fixed, then they're just delaying the inevitable. Haha! Despair inducing, indeed! :bear:

Hina is useful for Naegi to ride on. Just need some ketchup.

Weedman is useless.

I didn't mind them too much. Not everyone, despite being an ultimate, is a super effecient mastermind. They bring a little heart, where heart is needed.

People dislike them because the better characters end up dead, which I can fully understand.

I didn't really think Hiro had heart at all. He was just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Not a lovable fool either. Just a really lame person in general.

I wouldn't say Yasuhiro is an outright jerk. He lacks tact (such as calling Sakura "the Ogre") and is impulsive (such as how he tries to get Makoto to "help" him with his drama involving the Kuzuryu Clan), but there aren't any cases where he goes out of his way to intentionally insult or belittle others, unlike Byakuya (who's actually one of my favourite characters in the series, but that's another story).

Despite lacking tact, there are several cases where Yasuhiro does have heart. When Taka BSoDs after Mondo's execution, Yasuhiro is the one to try and perform his group "leader" activities; he also freely (if incorrectly) admits to killing Sakura when the blame comes to him, making him the only "murderer" in the game who does not try and immediately deny the crime. And he's also the first of the kids to defend HIna when it's revealed she tried to get them all killed. He might not be a doll like Chihiro, but he's also definitely not Celeste.

Just my two cents, though. I know this isn't enough to redeem him in most people's eyes. It at least makes him 14 times more likable than Hiyoko or Hifumi, though.
