So I found this and got curious... What sort of genre?
Is it pure visual novel? Point and click?
Ace Attorney-ish puzzle?
And I mean mechanically, rather than the plot.

It's a linear visual novel that in terms of game mechanics is a mix of that, and a normal game. There are parts where it works just like a visual novel, then you have Free Time segments and Investigations where you can move freely around the map and talk to whoever you want.

As for point-and-click stuff, there's a reticle you can aim to inspectable parts of the map and characters. Then, you'll either examine the object, or talk to the character.
