The anime sucks
It looks like a low-effort copy paste of the game.
Don’t know which came first, but if the anime came first, why the heck does it look so stupid? I mean those flashing images you get when collecting evidence, the motionless bunch of people standing in a line and all that stuff is fine in the game. But why does an “animated” series have so little animation?

And that’s not all. It’s like watching a movie on fast forward. It’s skipping or rushing through too much and instead, spends time on pointless dialogues. What little animation is there in the anime is ripped straight from the game.

The game before the Anime and the Anime was given only like 13 episodes to work with which is hard you're adapting a like 20 plus hour game.

Even so, would it no have been better to leave half for another season? Watching this anime feels no different from watching the game's walkthrough. Way too much ripped off. I have to wrack my brain to remember any places that had something the game didn't

Well the way Anime works is different. An anime has no idea if they are getting another season until the first season is over and even then it doesn't matter how good they are if the timeslots are already booked. They were told to adapt the first game into an Anime so they did what they could and a potential season 2 would have been Danganronpa 2 but despite the rating DR1 got they didn't get considered for a second season until 2016 which they ended up doing DR3 instead
