From what I heard the anime was made to advertise the game, but idk if that is true

It's a game first and foremost. You play the game & that's all you need. The anime is based on the game and is merely supplementary, tacked on, extraneous & a cash-in.

You play a game to get all of it. You can even skip anime.

Anime was only made to advertise the game itself, and wasn't good either.

The anime wasn't as good because of budget and time. After all, they only had 13 episodes to put everything together.

But I'd still recommend watching it regardless when you finish the game.

Eh. The anime adds nothing new to the first game, and is too condensed. You're better off just playing the game.

Advertising the game through an anime seemed to work on me. I saw it last year (which I really enjoyed) and I'm just now picking up both 1 & 2 to get the full experience :2016whoadude:
No, but the game is way better than the anime. It's really hard to fit more than 8 hours of gameplay into 12-episode series, and when I watched the anime, I was thoroughly disappointed. It's much better to play the game.

The game is the same as the first anime except it explores each character better. There's also more rooms in the school but they don't really see any action.

The only part of the anime that is completely unique is the final season, which provides the prologue to Danganronpa 2 (called the despair arc) and what happens after Danganronpa 2 is over and done with (called the future arc). I wouldn't suggest watching either of said arcs until you've finished playing this game, Ultra Despair Girls, and Danganronpa 2, otherwise you'll be facing massive spoilers that might ruin your experience with this game series.

By the way, the games should be played in the order they were released, right? D1, D2, Girls and upcoming D V3?

Yup, V3 is said to be unconnected to anything before it, but for the whole game series experience, that is the order.

I wouldn't ever suggest to watch DR3 since it's full of disappointments, and ended up ruin the Hope's Peak Saga as the whole. Better just skip to play v3 entirely.
