Why is the blood pink?

The blood goes along with the artistic style of Danganronpa, being bright and colorful. It also acts as a way to keep uncensored death scenes, by not having red blood. At least, those are the most likely possibilities.

When I first got this I started writing a mod to change it red, although I didn't get around to finishing it. I should look it back up again, was a while ago.

I think I got to extracting all the images and putting them back, but got tired of changing the images. I suppose I could supply somebody with the tools I made if they want to mod the images in some way.

There is one major problem I have with some of what others have said (Chapter 5 spoilers)
In the clasroom that has all of the blood over the walls and the chalk outlines etc. the blood is red or at least appears that way to me

I believe that blood is red due to either it being dry/old or not associated with a present body, but just outlined bodies from before.

The blood is pink in the series because at first it was originally a form of censor. But then it became the staple of the franchise

Artistic style. Contrary to many statements, it's not about censorship. I've seen plenty of anime of lower ratings with red blood

There's also the fact that near the end of the game, you find a classroom that was the sight of a slaughter filled with red blood. And in Danganronpa 3 Future Arc, the blood is red. So the claim that it's about censorship is impossible, seeing as there's already red blood.
