Does this guy even sleep?

ever since the newest updates my game hasn't been working. anyone else having problems with their mouse pad not registering in game along with random screen glitches? i've tried everything to fix it

I'm sorry to everyone whose mods broke. While I only work on the base game (not mods or mod frameworks), I accept the blame for this one. Normally, I coordinate with SMAPI to release our updates at the same time, then once you update SMAPI you should be good to go with your mods on the newest patch. 1) 1.6 is stable now, so we will release fewer, larger patches (if necessary)

3) I will always make sure to coordinate update timing with SMAPI to minimize periods where mods are broken.

Additional note:
After big updates (e.g. 1.6.9), there is usually a period of instability, when rare bugs are found and we are scrambling to fix them. Sometimes, the bugs are serious and need to be fixed as soon as possible. I try as much as possible to consider modded players, but ultimately my obligation is to the "vanilla" version of the game, and if there are problems players are having, I want to fix them quickly. This is why there have been near-daily patches this past week. This "period of instability" always settles down, and things will go back to normal. To those requesting that I stop updating the game: I can't do that, while there are still bugs in the game. However, I hope that my 3 points above will help to settle things down for modders and make the experience smoother going forward.

Don't worry about it. It's ultimately a video game, so it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Plenty of us appreciate the fact that you have been working diligently on fixing issues and have been providing us with free content updates for years. I'm personally just happy you chose to embrace modding instead of trying to resist it. If the price I have to pay for that is occasionally things are broken for a day or two, I consider it a bargain and will gladly pay it every time.

Thank you for all your effort thus far, keep up the good work, and hopefully you can share an update about Haunted Chocolatier soon.

what is causing you to have to update mods every time? As far as i understand, all you have to do is update SMAPI, which automatically happens when you launch the game (requires restarting SMAPI once).
The reason things are broken right now is because SMAPI is temporarily out of sync with vanilla, but this is an anomaly, every other post-1.6.9 update has had a synchronous SMAPI update.

Because SMAPI is just a mod framework, many mods such as UI2 (UIInfoSuite2) cannot be updated in real-time according to the game version, resulting in many players who rely on this mod, including myself, being unable to play games normally. Of course, as a player, I am very grateful for your dedication to the game over the years. This is indeed a very good game.
