Cave Carrot cannot be given to fulfill a quest

Started a fresh playthrough recently to see the recent changes. Sadly i'm not a pro who went into the 100th year on a single playthrough, so you could say i'm still a bit of a newbie...

Recently on my new playthrough, i received the quest from Marnie to give her a Cave Carrot, at the same time getting one from Elliot on the billboard in town. Having a few in my storage, i took two to finish both quests...

Marnie was at home, in the kitchen i think and giving her the Cave Carrot was like giving her it as a gift, resulting in a lower affinity (it's a bad gift for her). Perplexed by it i went to find Elliot, who was standing near the pub. The same thing occured, as Elliot thought it was a regular gift, but a bad one...

So i lost the quest with Elliot and worsened a bit my affinity with both of them. Is the Cave Carrot bugged or something? I've seen topics from many years ago that it was the case, but now?

IIRC, you need to enter her house with the carrot (maybe while she’s working, but I’m not sure). Then a cutscene starts where you give it to her. When in doubt, always check the wiki: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Quests#List_of_Story_Quests

As for Elliott, are you sure it was a cave carrot he wanted, or maybe the quest expired? I personally never had problems with cave carrots, though I haven't played 1.6 yet.

Yes, i'm pretty sure he wanted a Cave Carrot, which is why i specifically picked up two from the storage. I also checked after giving him it and was even more perplexed...

Considering Marnie, i think it's a strange situation... i can understand it would be difficult to code a cutscene like this in a more friendly manner, but it still is pretty misleading eh...
