Desert Festival Broken

I am in year two and just unlocked the desert festival for the first time, but it is not entirely working for me. The villager shops never open, and the races do not work. Has anyone else had any problems with this festival??

I seem to have the problem that I cannot take the bus myself to calico dessert, as I should. The sign that Pam says to drive myself is there, but when I try to the ticket machine keeps telling me i need to wait for a driver to be present. this way I cannot seem to go to the second festival day.

I dont know If you experience this?

I have not experienced a problem with the bus, just issues at the festival itself, for me there is no villager shops that open up, and "the races" do not work (can't see the racers). On the first day you went did all of the festival shops work for you?

I am not sure how to fix this problem and I am so frustrated that I can't fully participate in the whole festival.

Are you using mods? Tried verifying files?
Had no issues with the festival myself, but I did it before the patch yesterday. Unsure if that messed up anything.

I don't use any mods, and I just verified the files, it doesn't report any problems. Could it be with my laptop system itself? I am using my macbook air that I have had for awhile, maybe it is possible that the new update is not compatible with it?
