Can't catch legendary fish

In my first year spring and summer i hadn't even tried catching a legend and crimsonfish, then, in winter and fall i caught a glacierfish, angler and mutant carp. When the second year spring came, i tried to catch a legend (i had fishing 10, it was a rainy day, i was at the right place), but there wasn't any. I tried it 3 times during spring and then gave up, thought it was some kind of bug.

If you only cast your line 3 times, it makes sense... even if you are in the correct spot it usually has around a 10% chance of being the fish that gets hooked.

no, i mean it was a rainy day 3 times during the spring, i was fishing all these days

I had the same sort of issue where I'd caught all of them except for Legend and Crimsonfish, and Legend just didn't appear at all when I was fishing for him?

What I ended up doing was waiting for summer, catching Crimsonfish, and then waiting until the next spring. Presto, Legend spawned like normal the first rainy spring day.

I think the update changed it so he's now gated behind catching all the other legendary fish. Some of the texts in the library and some of Willy's dialogue regarding the legendary fish have been updated and they seemed to be implying that that's what's happened.
