Crash when going into water cave on ginger island after getting letter from Fizz

im playing vanilla (no mods) im in summer of year 2 and after getting the letter in the mail to visit Fizz in the water cave on ginger island (cave where you find prof. Snail) i go there and the game crashes when entering the cave.
