Leo Nine hearts event blacks out

I just opened my newly finished game to check the new update, when i encounter this cut scene - i get to see him with Linus, and doing good in class with Penny, when the next scene just fades to black?
I left it for a couple of minutes to see if it would continue, but no luck there.
I tried multiple times but it does the same thing each time i go to the mountains.
Don't know if its the new updates doing something, i have never had this cut scene before.

I've just experienced this bug as well.
The 9 heart Leo cutscene.
On a new save made after 1.6 launch, winter, I used a mountain warp totem to go to the mountain and was thrown into the event. It played the scene with Leo & Linus and then the one with Penny at the library, and then a black screen with music still playing. I couldn't see anything. I was able to open my menu, that was visible, and use my return scepter. I could see the screen again, but the cutscene music continued to play. I then walked back to the mountains and the cutscene restarted again from the Linus scene, this time I hit skip and everything is back to normal.

Thank you, i will try skipping or using a return scepter! I could also access the menu but i couldn't get out of the black cut scene!

Just got this bug :( lost my whole busy day!

Version 1.6.8, build 24119. MacOS. Experienced this bug with same triggers as @masked_gargoyle (winter, used warp obelisk, but repeated after reload by just running to mountains). Played Linus and Penny scenes then went to black. Sounds continued, occasional parrot sqwaks and maybe fishing sounds. I could open inventory during event, as well as the emoticon circle using keyboard.

I just got the same thing. Also on MacOS playing a new save started after 1.6 was released. Unfortunately don't have the return scepter yet (I got all the obelisks first as those are required for perfection) so I had to exit to restart the day. Fortunately it was still early, so I didn't lose a ton of progress, but still a bummer to get stuck.
