Quest bug making it difficult to play at all

Quests have been bugged out for me for the last week or two. When I click the ! to open them, it only shows a tiny corner of the text so I can't even read what I have to do, who it's for, or even see my progress. This isn't just for one either--it's every single quest (new and old). Help!

Is this a Stardew Valley Expanded thing, because that doesn't really look like vanilla SDV.

I don't even know what the expanded is. This is the base game I purchased off Steam. Just Stardew Valley. First playthrough. Maybe it looks weird because I don't have any mods (I hear most everyone else does)?

Hm, I would try verifying the game files if I were in your shoes. It's the easiest things to do in case something looks buggy in any game.

If that doesn't work then try manually deleting your whole game folder(save games are saved somewhere else). Then request Steam to redownload it, either by pressing play or by doing the verification step from above.

Just tried the verification and now some quests are showing more text (but still not correctly/enough). I'll have to look up how to do the delete carefully (lol, terrified of losing my games). Thank you for the suggestions!

You can safely delete your SDV folder, it does not contain the save and preference files... speaking about preference. Maybe your options are bugged.

Delete the startup_preferences folder in %AppData%/StardewValley. That will reset your options. If that still doesn't help then try deleting your game folder.
