Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley

Black Screen of nope
I have just bought this game as i have seen people play it and i'm interested in playing it. The first and ONLY things that happen when the screen pops up is that it's Black with birds tweating. Now I have tried what the KNOWN ISSUES by Sirithre and none of them work, here is the part related that I mean "Screen black on launch - Make sure your sound card drivers are installed. Someone encountered this issue because they always used a headset and had never installed their integrated sound card drivers.
Try deleting the Stardew Valley folder in %appdata% - (Thanks Fragglar!)"
This dosen't work, if there is anyone who knows how to sort out this problem then please tell me. I would verry grateful if you did. Thank you.

how DO u acces ur app data tho :steammocking: im having problems
The closest I've got is by opening my Start menu and typing into the search box %appdata%. That brought up my roaming folder. Click on it and then you should be able to take it from there. I have just double checked the %appdata% way just to be sure and I can't even find the Stardew Valley file even though I uninstalled it and reinstalled it just to be sure.
I am running into this same issue. My game loaded previously and my computer crashed. Now that I load it up, it is going to the same black screen and just having the birds tweeting. I am attempting the same problem fixes, but they do not seem to be working.
If you don't have a Stardew Valley folder in the %appdata%/roaming/
Try creating it manually, then running the game again?
What if we do already have it in there? Nevermind, it turns out I just need to read instructions. Thank you very much, Sirithre!

Ok, made the file manually and ran the game. No changes to the game BUT it did recreate the Stardew Vally file AND I now have an error report:
"Message: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Windows\system32\Content\XACT\FarmerSounds.xgs'.

I have sent this error report and hopfully can get this sorted out. Fingers crossed.
I am having the exact same problem you are. I updated the game and the black screen showed up. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times. It must be a bug. I'll be following this post and posting if I find any other ways to fix it. Hopefully it's just a bug and not something wrong with our computers!
I really hope so to.
"Message: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Windows\system32\Content\XACT\FarmerSounds.xgs'.

GOG installer seems to set the game path to where you ran that installer, so you'd have to either copy the "Content" folder into system32 (Which I don't think is a bright idea) or maybe reinstall the game while launching the installer from within the game folder.
Found a fix, go to %appdata%, find the Stardew Valley folder and delete the file called startup_preferences and restart the game.
I went to look for the folder that you mentioned but couldn't find it. the only folder in the Stardew Valley folder is the error log. Something doesn't seem right.
I went into another descution and found this by user Gryphon:

"So I used the suggestion posted by soto6000 in another thread and it worked!

> Found a fix, go to %appdata%, find the Stardew Valley folder and delete the file called startup_preferences and restart the game.

I couldn't find %appdata%, so I just did a search for "startup_preferences" in File Manager and deleted the file from there and everything was fixed."

I have yet to find the file but this seems extremely useful. If anyone is having a problem with the black screen and can't find it then try this.
C:\Users\name of your account\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley there is savegame folder and startup_perferences
name of your account- there you need to type your own account name
I just checked this metod, it works!!!! just delete this file and start game.
I propose to developers to work better on our problems!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to smash my head against a wall soon. I can't find the file that I need to deleat, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and just to top EVERYTHING off I haven't even played a single seconed of the game even though it says that I've played around 58 minnets of the stupid thing. Yes, I typed 58 minnets of me just trying to play the stupid game. Thankfully it's payday for me tomorrow so I'll take my computer to a repare shop to see if it's my computer...I certanly hope it isn't.
