Cooking checks for items in the fridge, yes, but...

So I've been making sashimi since I learned it. Great recipe. I figured out quickly enough that it uses whatever fish is furthest towards the end of your inventory. But I noticed that every time I try to make one batch of it, if there are any fish in the fridge, it will make 2 batches automatically. One from the last fish in my inventory, and one from the last fish in my fridge. Surely this isn't intentional? If it is it's incredibly lame, I've lost a good handful of fish I was saving for other dishes before I figured out what was going on.
