Fishing Not Working For Me?

I bought the game yesterday and I'm using a mouse and keyboard, and for some reason fishing isn't working for me?

I click the left-mouse button to cast my line into the waters and I wait until the "!" sign appears to inform me that I caught something. Except when I left-click again, the minigame that's supposed to pop up doesn't appear; instead my character just brings the line out of the water and I receive nothing.

I tried using the 'c' key instead my mouse to cast, but doing so doesn't allow me to charge the bar so I can cast the line farther; it just releases it immediately. No other button on my mouse or my keyboard appear to do anything to activate the fishing minigame, so I'm at a lost at what to do.

Are you sure you are reacting fast enough? Try holding down the left mouse button as soon as you cast, and releasing when you get the !
