Too dark shadows throughout the game??

Since updating (and creating a new game), the shadows inside buildings have gotten extremely dark. I use mods, but none that alter visual effects and most of them just affect the look of buildings and portraits. Everything is considerably darker and rooms that shouldn't look odd now does because the lighting is completely weird.

Here's an example of what I'm seeing in game.[ironic-rapping-roof-ninja.tumblr.com] I've searched all the options in game, and changing shadow quality just makes the shadow go weird when it's low and it's stable when it's on the highest.

Am I just going insane or am I right in thinking this is a weird bug?

EDIT: This is now a serious problem as levels 30-40 (and a bunch of other random levels) in the mines are essentially unplayable as it's completely pitch black apart from a tiny circle of light from randomly spawned light sources.

Check to see if you can update any display drivers, and update any that you can, and try again.

I've got all my drivers up to date, so I'm pretty sure that's not the problem.

Hmm, Maybe now try to verify the game cache and if that doesn't work back up your saves, then uninstall SDV and reinstall it

Reinstalling didn't help unfortunately. I'm starting to get used to it, but now its essential for all my farmers to have glow rings. I think it could be something to do with the mods that I have installed and changes to maps I downloaded. Unfortunately, I would very much be lost without either of them as I've come to enjoy Stardew Valley like that.
