Chicken Icon error
So I have been reading through the disccusions trying to see if any of the suggestions that people have can get my game to work again. I have run into the same problem as others where my game no longer loads and just gives a "windows in not reponding" message. I finally found a way to see what errors I have by right clicking the Stardew Valley file that is the Application Manifest file not just the Application file that has the chicken picture next to it. When I right clicked the Stardew Valley file (Application Manifest file) and choose the option to open I got a message that said the application could not be downlaoded and then I could click the details button. In the details the errors that came up are as follows:

ERROR SUMMARY
Below is a summary of the errors, details of these errors are listed later in the log.
* Activation of C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Stardew Valley.application resulted in exception. Following failure messages were detected:
+ Downloading file:///C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Stardew Valley/chickenIcon_32_32.ico.deploy did not succeed.
+ Could not find file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\chickenIcon_32_32.ico.deploy'.
+ Could not find file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\chickenIcon_32_32.ico.deploy'.
+ Could not find file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\chickenIcon_32_32.ico.deploy'.

If anyone has any idea how to fix this please let me know. If this is literally becasue I am trying to open the application manifest file and not just the application file that actually has the chicken icon next to it then I am still just as lost on finding any clues to a solution as everyone else.

What have you tried so far?

This looks like a pretty basic case of file missing, try verifying the cache.

I've verified the cache at least 10 times, tried downlaoading the XNA files a few times, even went as far as uninstalling the game and steam and reinstalling. I have tried deleating all the chicken files in the animals folder and then verifying the cache and that hasn't even worked. It reaquires the files but game still crashes. As I said in my original post I have followed all the steps that have been posted in the forums and nothing has fixed the game from crashing within 2 seconds of trying to load. Thanks for trying to help though with your suggestion. I'm just frustrated that I can't find a solution yet.

Is there a SDV error log, generated from the game? (%appdata%/Stardew Valley)
It can help immensely.

Worst case, I could just quasi legally send you the file that's broken and see if that works.

I have never seen a "%appdata%/Stardew Vally" file. I'm not sure if it is not there or if I am not looking in the right place for it. I only found my error by trying to open the Stardew Valley Application manifest file and then clicking details when it said it wouldn't run. I hope my explanations of what I have been trying are clear. If not let me know and I will try to explain better. I appreciate the help a lot.

In order to find it, you need to enable the ability to view hidden files.
Instructions here[www.howtogeek.com]
Then, search for %appdata% and you should be able to see the file.

Unfortunately the %appdata% is still nonexistant. I have sent an email to the devolper through the contact steam shows. I have sent him the entire document that I got by trying ti run the Stardew Valley file (Application Manifest) that does include the error I was able to find and posted. I just don't know why the %appdata% file will not show up since there clearly is an error and why that specifc error cannot be resolved by verifying the chache through steam. Thanks for all your help.

I know I'm late, but i fixed it deleating my "Stardew Valley" folder on "C:\Users\*User name*\AppData\Roaming" But before you delete it, make a backup for it, if you don't, you will loose you'r save files. Just delete it, and open the game, if it launches, then close it and move your save folder from the backup to the new Stardew Valley folder in "C:\Users\*User name*\AppData\Roaming"

P.S Sorry for the bad english.
