Can't do Winter Star gift exchange because of new NPC

The game gave me Leo as my secret gift recipient for the Feast of the Winter Star, who naturally was nowhere to be found when the Feast happened. So because I couldn't give him a gift, I couldn't trigger the cutscene where I recieved one from another villager.

Bumping this. I also got Leo, with no way to give him a gift.

Yep, happened to me as well.

Worse still, Lewis told me Haley was to the recipient.
But then the day before the Feast of the Winter Star, his letter said it was Leo.

Since Leo wasn't there, I couldn't give him a gift, nor could I give a gift to Haley. So I also lost out on the cutscene.

Yes, just happened to me as well. I get to the festival and can't find him. Verified I have the latest version.

Yup, been there. It sucks almost as bad as when you put effort into getting a dance partner for the flower dance and then you get auto-kicked from the event/cut scene without being able to dance with your chosen partner. It's like why bother wasting the time forging relationships so early on?

Just wanted to say this bug is still happening. No issues with target changing at the last minute, but got Leo as the secret gift target.

This is a widely known issue which occurs because Leo moves to Stardew Valley and participates in festivals after his 6-heart event, but the game seemingly doesn't check for that variable when choosing a gift recipient.

This issue was supposedly fixed in the 1.5.1 patch, but a lot of people have still been running into it since then. I wonder if it might be because of a save being created before the fix was implemented, or if it just wasn't properly fixed. The patch was released toward the end of December, so I'd be interested to know if anyone who's run into this bug knows that they began their affected save after that.
