Festival of Ice Fishing

I'm in year 1 winter 1 and I started the fishing challenge/minigame to find out I...didn't have a fishing rod. Nothing I do to cast the fishing rod seems to do anything. I can still interact with npcs but I basically had to wait the timer out, which was agonizing.
I also had a similar problem with another fishing minigame within a festival in summer or fall, if I'm not mistaken, in which I could cast the rod but never catch fish, only catching trash.

I did fine before joining beta, but now in beta I can't fish in the festival of ice either.

same here..... which is so disappointing because i have FINALLY figured out how to fish

I had the same issue. I was able to reproduce it by holding down a direction while the game started, which I also did the first time. The thing in summer sounds like it was just bad luck though.

The problem is still occuring for me as well. Will this ever be fixed?
