Duplicate mayor's shorts?
Playing single-player on Win 10, with the Gatherer profession in Foraging. I finally got around to making friends with Marnie so I could get Lewis' purple shorts off her floor. When I went to pick them up, it displayed the message that I had found them, but only flipped the sprite rather than picking them up. I clicked on them a second time when the mouseover showed that it was a gatherable item and was able to pick them up, but the animation showed me picking up a fish, and then I had a stack of two purple shorts in my inventory.

I was able to deliver them just fine, but only one pair actually got handed over, so now I still have the item. I'm not able to throw them out. Maybe I'll put them in my grange display when the fair rolls around?

I had the same issue, I now have an extra set of Lewis' shorts and no idea what to do with them... I could save it for the grange display next year, considering i don't think there's any other way of actually disposing of them. Are you playing the beta? I think that might be the cause, if i had to guess.

I also got a duplicate of the shorts!

Same, except I think the second pickup of his shorts also gave me one piece of stone, which was weird.

same here ;) I tried to edit the inventory with notepad++ but it seems you need to edit more than the savegame (or I forgot to delete some lines)... If you want to try this savegames are in C:/User/(YourUserName)/AppData/Roaming/StadewValley/Saves/Name_XXXXXXXXX (Edit: Im playing the Beta)

I am indeed in the beta. A friend also recommended throwing them in the soup pot, but I don't know exactly what that does or if it's a good idea, lol. One spot permanently taken up in a storage chest is a mild annoyance at worst if I just keep them, anyway, but I figured it should be reported.

It makes the governor sick when he tastes the soup. Literally. I think he even pukes. Then Lewis sends all people home.

I haven't checked if doing this lowers the affection of the people towards the player.
