Mermaid Show Pearl Issue?

I've been unable to get the Pearl from the mermaid in every save I've tried it in. I have the secret note, I put the correct sequence in, and I get nothing. If it helps, I was playing in Multiplayer on an unmodded game and my player 2 got the pearl but I didn't. I couldn't get it after him, I couldn't get it in my own save modded or not.

You have to let the mermaid sing first. After she finishes singing and there is silence, you click on the shells in the correct order and you get the pearl. Hope this helps.
