Breeding Slimes in a Shed
Using the slime incubator, you can hatch slime eggs pretty much anywhere. Since the slime hutch has a slime limit of 20, I thought that hatching them in a shed might be a better way to breed a lot of them for their drops. Does anyone know if slimes in a shed will breed while you are away? I've seen them breed while I am there, but I don't want to sit around in the shed all day.

Did you already build a slime hutch? They won't breed unless you build one, but they will still breed even after you demolish it. And slime balls can only be attained through the hut, I think.
I do have a normal slime huitch.
Are you just wanting to mass produce something like iridium slimes, or are you trying to breed a specific color for their respective drops? Sheds work well enough for the former, but the latter needs more space to separate and cull unwanted variants.
With all the experience I've had from slime breeding in Stardew, I have noticed that any and all slimes raised outside of the slime hutch regardless of whether it's indoors or outdoors will only become active while you're on the same screen as them.

By that, I mean you have to be in the same map (doesn't have to be onscreen) for them to move, produce baby slimes, as well as have those babies growing. Since you're not really in your sheds much if all you're going to use them for is slime breeding, it's actually much more efficient to use the slime hutch for breeding slimes instead of a shed as slimes remain active in the hutch even when you're not there unlike everywhere else in the game.

Your first thought might be to raise them on the farm, but doing so will give a chance for slimes to escape overnight and disappear forever, but they will never escape when raising them anywhere else. With that in mind, my recommendation would be to instead raise them in town or the forest area. Place your incubator right next to the Community Centre, hatch a few eggs in there and hang around town long enough to embrace the chaos. :greenslime:

Here's a very useful tip from me if you don't want too many days to pass just from breeding slimes - while reeling in a fish, time will pause (in solo play) but the slimes themselves will not freeze in place while reeling them in, meaning you can continue letting your slimes breed and eventually grow while no time passes at all. You can prolong the length of the fishing mini-game by purposefully letting the fish outside the green bar as it's about to fill up, then quickly get it back in before it escapes. :ABZU_Fish:

Hope this was useful information to you and manage to end up with a thriving slime farm yourself like I have done! :slimehappy:
