does a mod exist to pause time if you stop doing anything
I'm not sure how it would work, but I really want to play this game to go to sleep to, but I constantly doze off and wake up passed out. I would love if there was a mod so if you stop moving and do nothing for 5-30 seconds the time passing either stops or is slowed down so much time won't pass.

Open the menu.

If you stop for a minute and lean back in your chair ... just hit 'escape' and open the menu screen.

oh I play on the steam deck in bed and no way to open the menu before falling asleep. I guess the whole "bed steam deck" part was pretty important here

but yeah, not really possible!

Hunnnn.... seriously? There's no way to open the menu? How do you adjust settings? Or look at your Collections tab?

no the point is, it's impossible to open the menu since I fall asleep when playing without warning, and 10 seconds to 20 minutes might have passed, I then put the steamdeck to sleep and go to sleep fully.

CJB cheats menu has an option to freeze the timer

There is a mod called TimeSpeed. Fair warning though, the mod is really cheaty if you abuse it.

You can toggle time in the world.
The mod also comes with setting specific locations to freeze time completely (npcs can still walk and talk regardless of the setting and machine still work there if you are in other place where time can progress). I recommend it if you find problems with most of the places where time keeps progressing.

Pair really well with debug mod.

needs to be automatic or doesn't help really. as said in my OP post. with no inputs for a set time, time stops until you start giving it inputs again

What I suggested may cover you somewhat, or at least I hope it can remedy the issue until you found your good mod.

You can set indoors as time freeze spots. So anywhere you feel dozy, maybe consider bunkering down someone's poor house.

You would likely need to hire a modder to make this for you since it's a very niche need.

Can the Steamdeck be set to go to sleep if no input for X-amount of time? Going to sleep should suspend the game if so. Suspend acts like a pause. I've used suspending the app directly for a game when it didn't have a pause.

I actually never considered that and I'll look into it. could be super annoying if too short, unlike time just pausing, which might not even be noticed. will see!

In my case, I play this game using an XBOX One controller.
My controller turns off automatically after about 10 minutes of inactivity, at which point the game automatically pauses due to a controller disconnection.

probably not the MOST helpful thing, but if you ship at least one thing every day you'll get the shipping receipt like screen (idk what it's called) that you have to interact with before the next day starts. I also have a tendency to fall asleep while playing lol and that's really saved me. I ship something first thing when I leave the house each day, and it doesn't have to be worth anything to get that screen! good luck and sweet dreams lol

The TimeSpeed mod suggested above will cover what you ask for, at least partially. You can set an artificial automatic time-freeze to any time of the in-game day, IE, You could set it so that it freezes at 1:50 am, never actually reaching 2am, giving you a chance to get your affairs in order and sleep in bed. That's what I use it for- I set it to 1:00, And that's my cut-off to finish whatever activity I was in the middle of and get to the bed without fear of passing out.

Edit: Didn't see a link for it, so here: www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/169

there was a mod that stopped time when you stood still after like 10 in game minutes on nexus but I don't know the name

If you open your inventory and go to the options menu there is an option called "Pause When Game Window is Inactive",
if you select that option and have some type of screen saver take over after a set time that may work...

NOTE: I can't help much because Steam Deck is NOT in Australia
