Obligatory mention of Tiller/Artisan professions if you want money. Ancient Fruit/Starfruit wine is the best money making method so you could respec for those. Apart from that, it depends on what you're doing. Shepherd is typically better because of truffle, goat cheese, and a LOT of wool production. At max friendship, you get Gold cheese from the large milk jugs which only take 7 days to age to iridium quality, and Iridium wool gives you two cloths.

Yeah, tiller/artisan is best for money, but personally if I were doing animals for money I'd probably just fence in a bunch of pigs in a frightening battery farm and let them create a billion truffles for me, so shepherd.

Out of those two I would go with Shepherd. Milk, cheese, wool and truffles...

Makes more money than... Eggs! I am actually a Shepherd on my current playthrough. A nice change since I usually go for the Artisan profession. I wouldn't call it amazing though.

But I don't hate it! :brownchicken:

First off, to all the people saying to go Tiller/Artisan. YES, WE KNOW IT IS BETTER! You dont have to point it out all the time.

But guess what? A new map just came out that is animal focused, so believe it or not, some people, for the first time, want to go the animal route of the farming skills branch.

Now, to the topic; Shepard is better.

I went tiller / artisan even on the new map because there is still plenty of space for crops and crops make substantially more money especially when making artisan goods, there is probably even less of a reason to take the rancher path on the new map because you get free friendship from the blue grass.
