wonder if it has something to do with the fish smoker and coal?

why are you using coal to smoke fish anyways?

I used to have a smoker that used a dozen coals to provide low heat and soaked wood chips for the smoke. Granted, I never smoked fish in it, but the tri-tip was really good that way.

ya, the smoke is supposed to be wood smoke :S

I think it should at least have the option of taking wood instead of coal... like 10 wood, 1 hardwood, or 1 coal.

it would also be interesting if you could fuel furnaces with hardwood...

That's what the charcoal kiln is for. to turn wood into coal

and that's what the wood chipper is for... so if they're all basically the same just let us use them interchanably without the time sink and save the coal.

but then how would the game decide which one it will put into a machine? nobody wants to accidentally put the wrong thing in.

ideally by which one you have selected... but otherwise the game uses the last one in the inventory by default as it's always done with cooking and no one has ever complained about it enough to have it changed because no one cares about how crap cooking is apparently.

how do you select two things at once? e.g. a fish smoker would need a fish and a fuel.

plenty of people have complained about accidentally turning their legendary fish into sashimi.

but honestly w/e solution you come up with, it would probably be unintuitive enough to need a tutorial, and therefore be bad.

so just make the fish smoker use wood since that makes sense.

Because fish smoked without any fuel smells bad and is dangerous to eat, no?
"Liquid smoke" is a thing - but it's closer to pickling/salting poor thing.

I still think fermenting fish in the preserve jar should be a thing... liquid smoke being optional :P

The is a recipe from greenland involving fermented shark-heads, so ... why not for SV? :D

Speaking of national recipes, proper potato beverage "hits" when it's made from pickled potatoes, not from potato juice. At least in our lands.
(on a seemingly unrelated matter, I wonder where Pam hides her still...)
