Hi all,

Please share info you've found to help compile useful information. I will try to edit the post to keep it up to date (until the wiki is eventually updated).


** Patch note: 19 unique Books Of Power, which grant special perks.

- "Monster compendium, "Monsters have a small chance to drop double loot". Found book in skull cavern from purple slime. Also found on shadow brute in the mines.

- Mapping Cave Systems: Halves the penalty for item retrieval inside mines. (Located inside the backroom at the adventurer's guild.

- You can buy one book from the Dwarf that reduces the damage you take from bombs by 25%.

- "Jewels of the sea" fishing treasure chests have a chance to yield roe. Found in treasure chest via fishing.

- You can buy a book from Marnie that'll let you adopt animals even when she isn't present at the shop.

"The Diamond Hunter"is purchasable from the dwarf on level 5 of the volcano mine, it makes all stones have a chance to drop diamonds when mined by hand

The books below were found at the book vendor, to the right side of the town (Summer 27, year 2).Patch notes say "A bookseller now comes to town twice a season.". Not sure when else this guy shows up.

- Way of the wind (part 1 and 2) "Slightly increase run speed"

- Price catalogue: when you hover over items, it shows you their gold value

- Horse book: increase speed while riding horse

- Ol Slitherlegs: you run a lot faster when running through grass / crops [basically it erases the speed penalty for running through grass/crops]


Side note:
Also the book vendor sold a book which unlocked all cooking recipes for 50,000. This could help achieve perfection prior to end of year 2. This book is NOT in the "special items and books" tab.

I also went over to the Quarry Mines and got a Monster Compendium to drop pretty quickly while I was checking for new content (I did not see anything of note). I'm assuming this Monster Compendium book can probably drop from random enemies anywhere, though, because the Quarry Mines is a really random location, and it seems you've already gotten it to drop in various locations, too.

(I also got a Magic Rare Candy to drop, luls)

If you need to know when the book seller comes into town, you can check the calendar in town or on the wall in your house. A balloon icon on the calendar indicates the exact days that he will arrive. Not sure yet if the chosen days are random or not, however.
