Coop question
Is there a way for two people to play on the same computer? My kids and I only have the one copy of the game, but would like to play together, even if it's split screen or something. Do we have to own multiple copies to play together? Or is there a way?
Thanks!

Yes! Press E or Esc during gameplay and go to Settings. Scroll down until you see where it says Multiplayer and big button under it that says Start Local Co-op. Just connect your controllers and enjoy! :D

Edit to add: You'll need to build a cabin for the other player first! They are built instantly when you buy them from Robin and they are super cheap.

Another edit to add: Alternatively, you can start a new game with cabins for other players already included if you:
1.- Start a new online hosted game from the Co-op button on the start menu.
2.- During character and farm creation, to your left it will ask you if you want to start with player cabins. Up to 4 max.
3.- Start your game.
4.- Exit and save game. Now load the same file but this time from Single Player.
5.- Repeat aforementioned steps to Start Local Co-op
6.- ???????
7.- Profit!

there is family sharing of the game available on Steam, but each player has to log into steam , so dont know how you could play together at the same time,

You can play split screen coop on a computer (I do so on my laptop w/ my partner). You don't need multiple steam logins.

family share only works for the one person play game at same time, if i play a game from my husbands account via fam share I can only play while he doesnt play any games, if he loads a steam game while I play a game I get a 5 minute pop up warning and will get kicked off the game.

yeah, split screen is possible and with the SteamLink App, it can also be streamed to a TV (obviously controllers still need to be plugged in into the PC, but there are blue tooth adapters for that).

Alternatively, with multiple PCs, Steam also offers the Remote Play-feature, where the owner of the game can stream the screen to other PCs and then you're pretty much playing the game as if you're sitting on one PC (so it's possible to play splitscreen like that).

You can split screen on a single PC with up to 4 people at the same time, you each get one corner of the screen. I play with a laptop hooked up to a TV using 4 xbox controllers fairly often, works seamlessly.
