Any other way to install mods other than SNAPI?
I simply can't get it to work on my PC, when i try to install it via the normal installer i get the error: "Oops The SMAPI installer seems to have failed. The error details may be shown above." and "The system cannot find the specified path". I have to click to open in administrator mode, because it won't it won't even show the blackscreen without it

I managed to install once manually like 3 months ago, but half the mods still didn't work, so i tried re-installing, and nothing is working anymore. When i double click the StardewModdingAPI, that black window shows like for a quarter of a second, closes and then nothing happens.

Can i at least install the UI suite mod without SMAPI? I really wanted the portraits one but i guess i'll have to do without it

you need to go into game properties and put in the correct path in steam. read the documentation as it works fine and installs itself. Are you using a way older version perhaps?

Well yes you can manually open the mod zip file and place it into your SDV folder and let it over write files but the more mods you do this with the more it may cause problems, you are better off working out why you cant install SMAPI. Are you installing it to where your game folder is?
If you choose the manual option, I STRONGLY recommend you copy and paste the vanilla folder to use as a back up

SMAPI is a mod injector, so it loads in the mods at runtime without changing the vanilla files. That said, you can also just overwrite the vanilla files with the mod files and it should still work, just be aware, that removing mods is really hard that way, since you need to overwrite the modded files with the inital ones again (or simply keeping a vanilla game folder and redo all this progress again each time you want to remove something)

So if it's only like one mod, it should be fine to simply copying it directly in

sounds like you made a typo in the file path to me, especially if it still happens if you run as admin.

I just downloaded the SMAPI on desktop and opened it, and i got this error. I also tried putting everything directly on the game's folder but it also didn't work. So i tried installing it manually following this video, it worked in the first time, but only a few mods, the portrait ones worked for like a day and then stopped working, and when i tried to re-install it to try to fix the problem, i couldn't get SMAPI to work anymore even following exactly this video and re-installing the game twice

Thats an ANCIENT version of SMAPI, you MUST have the version of SMAPI that fits your game version, that video is a year old!!!

Get SMAPI from here:

https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/2400?tab=files

ON:Y use the version that matches stardew valleys latest version number, they must match

There has been quite a lot of updates recently and quite a lot of mod updates too, so depending which mods you use and which game version you are one, you may have to wait for them all to update to the latest GAME version

Short version: No.

Long version: There are some really old mods, which probably don't work anymore, that directly replaced game files. Most mods today are designed around Content Patcher, which is a SMAPI mod, created by the same person who maintains SMAPI.

If you want help with getting SMAPI to work, no problem, but we need more to go on. Like what version of SMAPI are you trying to install, are you using any of the older versions of Stardew, do you have your Steam games installing somewhere other than the default C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam, how are you trying to install mods, etc.

I tried to install the 4.1.7 version of SMAPI and i'm using the current version of stardew on steam, if i could just get the installer on windows to work, but i have no idea of what to do.

My game is installed on C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley, but when i open the windows installer from SMAPI, it says it can't locate the path

Yeah i already tried that, i followed these exact same steps in the video i posted in the comment above, it worked the first time the first time i did it some time ago, but it's not working anymore when i try installing it

Maybe check out curseforge and see if they have any stardew mods on there that dont require SNAPI and give you a similar effect?
