Can't find Golden Relic
Not sure if this is simply terrible RNG or a bug, but I have not been able to get the golden relic. I'm playing on PC with no mods at all (vanilla) and version 1.6.14. Now I got the golden mask three times with less chance of appearing than the golden relic.

I've also noticed there are much fewer artifact spots in the desert than there were before the patches. Has anyone else noticed this?

Anyway, I tried to play a complete the museum in one year challenge, and I got everything else multiple times, but never got the golden relic. I've gotten about 50 or 60 artifact troves and could find everything else other than this relic.

If it's just bad RNG, that's fine. But if it's a bug, I'll report it.

Could someone please tell me if you've had any luck finding it? Thanks!

There's no pity system where the odds go up the more attempts you've made.

If the Wiki says you have a 3% chance of getting a specific artifact, every single time you dig it's the same 3% chance, it never goes up or down. So, it's entirely possible you can go extended periods of time and never get that specific item because you have a 97% chance of getting something else.

Use this site, load your save and predictor will tell you when golden trove will drop relic.
https://mouseypounds.github.io/stardew-predictor/

It's not a bug. RNG for it is low (6% on desert, 3,6% from Trove).

Or spam treasure totems on desert.

Oh, thank goodness! I'm glad it's just me/unlucky RNG than a bug. Thanks for your help!

Understood. Forgive me if I asked a foolish question, but I was simply making sure that it was not a bug. Thank you for explaining.

you have 2 options, 1.) treasure troves by converting omni geodes.
2.) treasure totems to create dig spots in the desert.

I am not going to weigh in which is best, probably the totems. trying to farm geodes without the totems, unsure how one would do so except killing skull cavern ghosts which is not scalable.

but if you want to scale up and make 100 treasure totems thats possible.

unless someone has a way to scale up omni geodes? the only way I know is take treasure totems to ginger island and use them there.

You have nothing to apologize for, yours was a perfectly legitimate question. However, a lot of people make the same flawed assumption, so leaving that explanation may help someone in the future.

Enjoy your game. Just a suggestion though, which you're free to take or not. Stardew is a game best savored over time, not rushed.

You have made an excellent point! And I certainly learned my lesson. Yes, I think next time I'll just take my time actually because rushing the museum was quite stressful. I had more fun when I took my time and simply enjoyed the process.

Yes, I learned that the hard way because I got tons of omni geodes, converted them to artifact troves, and got so many duplicates but very little of what I needed.

Still, it is a viable option if you're going slowly because I was only missing one artifact. At some point, I would have gotten it. But in retrospect, that tactic seems inefficient.
