Any mods to increase fish on farms?
I'm fairly new to the game, and started out with the river farm. I love fishing but I love the ocean even more, and found I was constantly wishing I had gotten the beach farm. By the end of year one I decided to just start a new game and go for the beach. I was not disappointed by how lovely it is and I like the sand challenge, but I was not at all prepared for the fact that I fish trash 90% of the time. This really irritates me as fishing is my favourite thing, and that is the sole reason that I chose a water farm - I just like the ocean farm better than rivers. It also makes no sense that this part of the ocean would have less fish than the town beach. So that said, I was wondering if there are any mods to have the beach farm fishing level increased to normal (or at least as good as the river farm because fishing seemed a lot better there)? It makes zero sense to have a farm on the beach and then spend half of your time running to the other beach to fish!

Your chance of fishing trash on the beach farm should be the same as the ocean.

I can think of two reasons you're encountering more trash than before:

- You're fishing in a bad spot. (The further from land your bobber is, the better the spot)
- You're just feeling your reduced fishing skill level after starting a new save.

This mod might help you.

Yes, it can make the fishing game easier, but you can leave those settings alone. I thought you'd be more interested in the "no trash" option that it gives.

Have fun, and good luck!

The Beach map is one of my favorites.

I don't typically find myself pulling in a lot of trash once I've gotten my fishing skill up a bit, but I also don't spend a huge amount of time actually fishing either.

The Beach map is a great place to build Fish Ponds.

It's also a fantastic map to just grow tons and tons of Wheat. Just plant it in big fields, don't bother to water it. Average Rainfall in a season will usually bring it to maturity. I typically use Scarecrows anyway, but I know Snowy Sprout doesn't even bother with them.

Pretty much any 4 day crop will work, but Wheat can be converted into Beer, so it's especially good.

It's a good map for Orchards too, or lots of Tappers. Anything that's hands-off, passive farming works really well on the Beach map.

I googled to see if it was something like that after catching 15 trash in a row and it said the beach farm had a much high trash rate than the river farm and non-farm areas (50/50 or something like that).

All I know now is, currently I'm going to the legitimate beach or the mountain lake and catching 5 fish to 1 trash at worst. On the beach farm, I catch 10+ trash in a row before giving up. I have a stack of 52 trash in my chest halfway through spring and I didn't even have that much after a full year in my other game haha. But anyway, as I said every other area of the map works correctly aside from the farm, which is why I googled and found out it actually has a worse rate (only the riverlands farm rate is closer to the local areas).

Thanks - I will give it a shot! I had tried another one that said no trash but it didn't work. Maybe this one will be better!

OK so I was curious if there was a custom farm map that would be better for you so I looked through lots of them and discovered one that you might really love. It's called Waterfall Forest Farms. It has an option for a medium farm or a large farm. It has LOTS of fish that can be fished up from different areas of the farm. It has river, some specialty AND ocean fish in the various areas. It has lots and lots of options that can be tweaked in Generic Mod Config Menu (a mod that lets you edit other mods options). I actually played this map a lot before and have been looking for it since I came back to the game after a 2 year break so I'm glad I did this research. It has a lot of other really cool features including a second farm cave, a small quarry, a beach area that can wash up forage just like the beach farm, an optional area above the farm that has a repairable shed with a greenhouse on top....and more.

I actually really like the fishing as well and use another couple of mods that you might like. One is a mod that actually lets you SEE the available fish in the water. I love it!!! I have another mod that gives you a list of all fish that can be caught in the area you are in. It shows up only when you are holding your fishing rod! It also give the percentages, shows you which fish you have on the line and tells you if there will be a treasure chest.

Mods:

See the fish in the water mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/8897

Glory of Efficiency is the mod that can show you the most fish info. It has a LOT of other features but they can all be individually turned off or on in the mod config. But sadly you have to do it from the config file rather than Generic Mod Config Menu which makes it a little harder to set up. https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/25996

There is another mod that does basically the same thing for the fish info it just isn't as pretty looking as Glory of Efficiency. https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/8970

I also use a mod called Fishing Made Easy Suite that lets you change a number of fishing parameters including: "This mod offers an array of options to customize your fishing experience! You can adjust the difficulty (easy or hard options), availability (time, seasons, and weather), spawn rates, and value of fish. Other features include; ability to recatch legendary fish, making Prismatic Shards a fishable item, and MUCH more!" https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3623

You might want to also look into the Fishing Trawler mod that lets you go on crazy fishing trips in a boat that is falling apart. You have to try and keep the boat together by repairing holes and bailing water and such. Then you get to keep some of the fish, the amount depends on how long you have been able to keep the trawler afloat. https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/15941

That is Exactly what I did with my fish ponds - although I do have different flooring and I have big sheds everywhere.

I am also a fishing fan and was disappointed in the amount of trash I hauled in at the Beach farm.

Try the custom farm map I recommended above. It has a little bit of everything. I installed it and played around with it and with the update to 1.6 it is so cool!! The fact that you can fish up different fish in the different bodies of water on it is pretty cool. If you select the "Sea Beach" you can catch ocean fish at the bottom of the map. It's funny because I had been looking for this farm map but hadn't found it. Now I might try to migrate over to it using the Easy Farm Switcher mod that lets you change your farm type on your current save. But I'll wait till the end of a season so I don't have to replant everything. It's a pretty neat mod. It actually takes all your fruit trees and crop plants and puts their seeds into a chest. All your outdoor pieces like flooring and paths go in a chest too.

That's very weird, even the Wiki says it should only give you trash like 25% of the time. https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Farm_Maps#Map_Types

Where precisely are you trying to fish?
