But if you want to automatize everything, then yeah you really need that auto petter. You can try using cjb item spawner mod.
The easiest way to get specific fishes is the fish pond. Just throw the sea cucumber in there and it will produce a new one like every 2-3 days.

Maybe this is something that will change in the upcoming 1.6 update. A lot of players has indeed requested easier access to auto-petters so I don't find the idea impossible. I will admit I have been quite lucky when it comes to getting them though. For most part I have found mine in treasure chests in the Skull Cavern
I remember seeing when I was small, at the times we visited our village, our relatives always showed love to animals to get more milk yield.
With this logic in mind, I wish CA added such a mechanic that when your farm animals hit 5 hearts; if you pet them yourself, they have a small chance of giving double the product for the duration they stay at 5 hearts, but if there's an auto petter in their building, they never give double product.
