Auto-petter
I really wish, even if it costs a ton or is hidden behind a Mr Qi quest, that the auto-petter was available no matter what playstyle you choose and not linked to absolutely dreadful luck/odds.

Playing solo, not having it available is an utter nuisance.

(Without mods)

They aren't THAAT bad to get, just stack your luck to the max and do a Skull Cavern run. 2 Lucky Rings, Ginger Ale, Lucky Lunch, and Max Daily Luck. You'll get treasure floors extremely commonly. Getting an Auto-Petter from a treasure floor is 1/26, so it'll only take a few runs with all those luck buffs to get one, if you use Staircases you could easily get multiple in a single day.

Nothing can take place of a warm hand touching animals with love, not even a machine specificly designed for it). Just pet your animals yourself man, let them know they are loved.

But if you want to automatize everything, then yeah you really need that auto petter. You can try using cjb item spawner mod.

Get the mod from the nexus that allows you to buy it from Marnie. However by default it requires that the community center is complete and 75k if I recall. In my current playthrough I didn't want to wait so I edited the mod to change the price to 1k and removed the event requirement line (community center complete) so it was available from the start.

You could go the Joja-Route and once all upgrades are bought, then you can buy them from Joja. Also just having less animals in general is also an option which you shouldn't ignore, especially when you don't like to take care of them to begin with.

it took me a while but in skull cavern chests they are quite common.

Does it need to be difficult Skull Cavern or does normal yield same results?

Normal, just keep going down the floors (don't skip using holes) so you have every possible chance to get a treasure chest floor.

Ok. Will give it a bash. Just need to find easy way of getting Sea Cucumbers en masse so I can make Lunky Lunches.

You'll struggle to get lots of those fish. If you have access to the desert you could trade a ruby for spiced eel instead.

The easiest way to get specific fishes is the fish pond. Just throw the sea cucumber in there and it will produce a new one like every 2-3 days.

Oh come on, after a few hundred days even I can get tired of the same old morning routine lol. Auto-petters are great, even for us who LOVE animals! :> It is a bit of a mystery why Joja are the only ones to have them. I mean, Marnie does have the auto-grabbers, which honestly freaks me out a bit more than the auto-petters... Sucking up eggs, feathers and wool is one thing, but how on earth are they extracting milk?! Maybe it is best not to know.

Maybe this is something that will change in the upcoming 1.6 update. A lot of players has indeed requested easier access to auto-petters so I don't find the idea impossible. I will admit I have been quite lucky when it comes to getting them though. For most part I have found mine in treasure chests in the Skull Cavern :brownchicken:

Possibly the same way we do it in real life? There is automated equipment in widespread use that literally allows cows to go to the machine when they are ready to be milked and it will do so.

There are machines in real life that automates milking of cows, but have you seen ONE contraption in real life that pets and shows love to animals? No, you didn't. Machines can't show emotions, at least for now.

I remember seeing when I was small, at the times we visited our village, our relatives always showed love to animals to get more milk yield.

With this logic in mind, I wish CA added such a mechanic that when your farm animals hit 5 hearts; if you pet them yourself, they have a small chance of giving double the product for the duration they stay at 5 hearts, but if there's an auto petter in their building, they never give double product.
Haboo got one after about 15 minutes of grinding with the right items and some save scumming, it's worth listening to what he had to explain:
