Rock Crabs (Resolved)

Been doing a fresh run and for some reason rock crabs are really rare. They were more plentiful when I was gathering the bug meat for Willie, but since then they almost never appear.

Am I just having some really lousy luck or is there something up with their spawn rate I don't know about? Even with Monster Musk, they're not appearing.

Edit: Finally got them. Feels too luck based though. They should up the spawn rate on those things.

I'm not aware of any changes to their spawning, but they're kinda rare and are floor limited.

The normal ones can be found on floors 1-29, the lava ones on 81-119 and the iridium ones start appearing on floor 26 of the skull cavern.

Best bet to find them is to go to one of the elevator levels in the range that they appear that spawns monsters, then return to the mine entrance using the elevator if you don't seen any of the crabs. It's faster to use this elevator method than trying to advance downward by finding staircases and way cheaper than using stone staircase items.

I did not do Elevator strat bcs I do not realize that Rock Crab has 2 tiny pixels on the bottom right of the rock. Which are "leggies".

Decided to go from Floor 20 since it has smaller layout, but I see stair and met infested floor with Crab. Lol.

Yeah, I know what to look for. They're just not appearing. I have also been visiting easily reached floors they should appear in and then leave if I don't see any and I'd be at that all day and still not find them. That's like several dozens of potential spawns that never turn up anything which seems unusual.

Edit: Well, I did use Buffmania's suggestion to speed up searching and I guess I got luckier today because finally got the little pests. Man, what a pain. Thanks for the help, guys!
