Mushroom Cap - does this thing even exist?
It's a 1% chance to be dropped from cutting trees. I've planted 6 mushroom trees with the sole intent of grabbing this hat, resetting and reloading the day whenever I don't get it. Yet after hundreds of resets I still haven't got it. All I've gotten so far from chopping down mushroom trees (besides the usual Red/Purple Mushrooms) were:

- Qi Beans (25% chance when the quest is active)
- Golden Mystery Boxes (0.5% chance for each axe hit)
- Woody's Secret power book (0.1% chance after getting it for the first time)
- Golden Animal Crackers (0.033% chance for each axe hit)
- Random cosmetic items like shirts (0.066% to 0.4% chance)

You'd think I've gotten the Mushroom Cap by now considering I've gotten all of these items multiple times, all of which have lower drop rates besides the Qi Beans... But nope, this hat simply doesn't exist for me. And yes, I'm aware they don't drop from cutting mushroom tree stumps (the tree must be fully grown).

Has anyone managed to get one? Or how has your experience been so far collecting certain rare drops?

I'm totally not looking forward to grinding for the Living Hat from cutting weeds (0.001% chance)... though I won't be attempting that until I get the Green Rain weather event during Summer.

I have it so yes it exist, i was playing on the Forest Farm though it has a natural chance to spawn Mushroom trees in Autumn. As for the Living hat one of the way is to empty the farm land on Ginger Island since weed(fiber) has a boosted spawn rate there.

Yes - I have it and it was random when I was clearing my farm of mushroom and regular trees after letting it build up for a while.

I don't think chopping the same trees hundreds or thousands of times by reloading will work. Probably best to plant a bunch of mushroom trees and chop them down on a high luck day. Maybe eat a lucky lunch or something too. :stardrop::cozybethesda:

Reloading your day doesn't do anything. You need to:

Plant a mushroom tree, OR be lucky to get randomly one, during fall (normal tree transforms somehow)

Let it "spread out" (spawn seeds around and those become new mushroom trees)

If the aforementioned seeds are too close and cannot grow, chop only the other mushroom tree(s) adjacent to it by 1x square tile, then let them grow.

From time to time, cut down a few mushroom trees, hoping you get the item; but make sure to leave the rest grow.

Rinse and repeat

P.S. Takes time and/or luck (not the in game luck, but rather, real life's)

Welp finally got one. This time I didn't try the reset day method (reloading the same day) Instead, I decided to chop down all mushroom trees and if I didn't get it, then I would reload and resume the day without chopping them down. I kept repeating this process for each new day until I got it.

I know the loot in the common and rare chests in the volcano region are predetermined for each day, so perhaps the same applies for the mushroom cap (though I doubt it).

Now the only thing left to grind for is the Living Hat. Too bad I already designed/decorated the land on my Ginger Island so I can't try the method of letting weeds grow on the plot and bombing them once it's all filled. I'll have to resort to farming the mines or the Green Rain event (luckily Summer is approaching soon).
