Should I return to 1.6?
Hi, I am a Beach farm enjoyer. I had done many runs in the past, but the furthest save was a casual run till Ginger Island, and I deleted the save. :( I am simply not a big fan of Sprinkler-fest farm, and animal cracker sounds fun.

I min maxed with Beach Farm during the first Spring, and I was quite resourceful. I was planning to do massive Kegs for Starfruit but I stopped playing due to boredom.

Now I want to return to the game, and I got hold of most part of the game. Except planning what I supposed to do. Getting all remaining Summer items? Fill farmhouse with bundle animals? Buy Woods? Farm more Iridium or luck roll Auto Petter? Grind last 2 skills to max first? It is Summer 17 year 1.

Do you also experience this kind of dilemma? Will you continue hard earned work or just try a new save? I would love to hear your idea! I am a mix of casual and tryhard player btw. It is hard for me to focus as one type of player. Thanks!

[EDIT]To prevent further confusion, this is how well I did:

As for if you should start new or keep playing that's totally up to you. I usually start over everytime i'm away for a longer time (or especially when the amount of players change), but i usually keep playing for a while.

Due to all the new content additions to 1.6, you may find it more preferable to start a new save if it's been a long time since you last played or if you haven't made that much progress on your current save.

1.6 also adds a new farm type, the Meadowlands Farm[stardewvalleywiki.com] which puts more of a focus on animals than crops so it may be worth trying that out if you wish. :winterbunny2023:

When 1.6 dropped last year, I chose to continue playing my 1.6 save, but only because it wasn't long ago that I completed my second 100% run so I thought I would keep playing to get a taste of some of the new stuff added to the game without starting over as I didn't want to experience burnout before getting to enjoy the new content. I did, however, start a fresh 1.6 save last December once the game started to feel a bit more fresh for me again. :corncob:

I had it recorded and posted on my Steam profile, but I do not feel ok to share it here. Do you also experience this kind of dilemma? Will you continue hard earned work or just try a new save? I would love to hear your idea!

If 1.6 isn't all that much worth coming back for then consider mods! Even just one mod such as Stardew Valley Expanded would do the trick!

i have the same problem. i have a habit of not liking certain things in my save, and then starting over with a new save. because of that i have 299 hours in stardew right now but the furthest I've gotten is year 2

I have a 50 hour save on the Meadowlands Farm right now though. i made it a month or two ago. and I'm definitely gonna stick with this one. I've really enjoyed coming back to stardew valley after being away from it for months

Yeah I forgot I was not in any issue right now. I can just do whatever I want!

I agree with you because that's why I gave up Ginger Island save! I should really stop messing around and just get perfection already. :cqlol:

I am interested on Riverland Fish Smoker as well. But since he purpose of starting my last run was to actually reach perfection, I will stick to my save since I get back my pace via another game. Thanks you nevertheless.

The main reason I gave up updating my map and modding the game is bcs of 1.6 still being fairly new back in months. I was thought of waiting a little bit longer for new version, but feel like it is better to stop suffering by at least using Informative mods. :cqlol::steamthumbsup:

So..when did you last play?

there were a number of QoL improvements. I recently clicked on a villager in the relationship menu and it listed their reaction to previously gifted gifts. and I was like, how long was *THAT* there for?

if you are quitting in summer, you probably invested too heavily into crops without having sprinklers. I never go past 200 crops in the field before sprinklers. and after I get quality sprinklers I never go past the crops I have for sprinklers.

with the beach farm however sprinklers do not work, so you probably ran into that issue of trying to grow crops without sprinklers and burned out. you can do it. its just super tedious, and I would only do it with like rain totems.

in the end if I was using the beach farm I would farm with sheds full of pineapples. or fish ponds. with delux retaining soil you can just fill sheds and use them as pseudo greenhouses, getting 152 pineapples per shed. Maybe you can get more, but thats what I'm getting. I would not farm on the beach farm without sprinklers. I would just use that sandy area for growing grass for livestock or fish ponds or other buildings.

you'll get a decent amount of farmland once you unlock ginger island if you want to farm normally.

but yeah would say trying to farm on beach farm without restricting yourself to the sprinkler allowed area will cause burnout.

Did you even reach your third year?? Reaching ginger island is like...only half the game. Check the achievements tab (in your collection)

1 year ago. Planting too many crops there actually makes less Iridium Bars, so it is never worth it. My reasons of quitting including: Too much Stardew, boredom, achieved what I want, waiting 1.6 mods update, game balancing issue, and lack of content that I like (Mastery).

I want to clarify that I am well aware of what's after that. I just don't like how the game looks back in 1.5 the more I played it.
